Jupiter Conjunction Pluto

0° · major aspect · neutral · default orb ±8°

Jupiter conjunct Pluto, recurring about every thirteen years, is read in the modern literature as increase magnetized by power: the classical portfolio of law, faith, and abundance fused with the depth, concentration, and purgation twentieth-century practitioners assigned to the planet discovered in 1930. Authors of the last century tie the pair to plutocracy and vast consolidations of wealth, to religious and ideological intensity, to reconstruction after collapse, and to persuasion exercised at the level of institutions. Jupiter's enlargement is held to operate downward here, magnifying whatever is buried, banked, or unspoken.

Traditional reading

The classical tradition supplies the conjunction's geometry and Jupiter's significations, nothing more; Pluto has no pre-modern literature. Jupiter is the applying body, overtaking Pluto once per cycle, and because Pluto crawls, successive conjunctions fall in whatever sign the outer planet then occupies, from Cancer in 1931 to Capricorn in 2020, a sequence mundane practitioners track against episodes of financial and institutional concentration. Sect doctrine covers only Jupiter's diurnal half of the pair, and modern sect claims for Pluto rest on the Mars analogy alone.

Classical reading

Ptolemy treats conjunction as bodies sharing the same degree. Nature depends on the joined planets - benefic with Jupiter, malefic with Mars or Saturn.

Modern reading

Modern reading: fusion of two principles. The combined energies act as one unit, for better or worse depending on the bodies involved.
