The Sun becomes lord of substance as ruler of the cusp, and classical method judges provision from his condition and sect, day births giving the luminary his full strength in the older doctrine. Medieval sources connected a well-placed Sun ruling the second with wealth through kings and eminent men, their era's language for patronage and office. Since the second house grants no joy, the ruler's dignity carries the testimony. Modern reading translates the placement into earning through personal brand and creative authority, and into pride entangled with income, a psychological turn the classical texts never took.
