A Hellenistic time-lord technique from Vettius Valens. Periods are “released” from a lot — Spirit for action and career, Fortune for body and circumstance — each sign ruling for the planetary years of its lord. Computed in your browser.
How releasing works
Starting from the lot's sign, each sign rules in zodiacal order for a set number of years: Cancer and Leo for the luminaries' longer counts, Capricorn and Aquarius for Saturn's 27 and 30, and so on. These Level-1 periods mark the major chapters of a topic.
Finer levels (Level 2, 3, 4) subdivide each period, and the “loosing of the bond” jumps the sequence to the opposite sign after a full circuit. This calculator shows Level 1; the deeper levels are a planned addition. The lots come from the lots calculator; see also profections and firdaria.
