The sources tie the pair to fertility and domestic happiness, to popularity easily won, to the crafts of comfort, and in horary practice to questions of women and household peace resolved gently. Ptolemy's benefic Venus meeting the light of night yields one of the tradition's softer mixtures, moisture joined to moisture, receptivity given an object in beauty and the affections rather than left diffuse and unattached.
Traditional reading
Both bodies belong to the nocturnal sect, so the conjunction sits harmoniously in night charts, the sect light joined to its own benefic. Reception strengthens the tie in one zone especially: the Moon is exalted in Taurus, Venus's domicile, so a Taurus conjunction gives Venus a dignified guest in her own house. The Moon, faster by an order of magnitude, always applies. Lilly reads Moon-Venus contacts as promising ease in dealings with women and the public, an emphasis the medieval Arabic authors share.
Classical reading
Ptolemy treats conjunction as bodies sharing the same degree. Nature depends on the joined planets - benefic with Jupiter, malefic with Mars or Saturn.
