Asteroid positions use the Swiss Ephemeris, loaded in your browser on first use (about 0.7 MB). Nothing is sent to the server.

How these are computed

Positions come from the Swiss Ephemeris compiled to WebAssembly. The main planets elsewhere on this site use a separate engine; asteroids need their own ephemeris, so the file loads only when you ask for a calculation. See methodology.
