How this calculator works

Mean Black Moon Lilith is the average position of the Moon's apogee, computed from the series in Meeus' Astronomical Algorithms. It moves through a sign in about nine months.

The same value appears in the birth chart calculator, where you can also see its house.

Questions

Which Lilith does this calculator show?
Mean Black Moon Lilith: the average position of the Moon's apogee, the point of its orbit farthest from Earth. Many calculators do not say which version they use. The true (osculating) Lilith swings around the mean by up to about 30 degrees, so a site using true Lilith can show a different sign. Dark Moon Lilith and the asteroid Lilith are different objects altogether.
How long does Lilith stay in one sign?
About nine months. Mean Lilith goes around the zodiac in about 8.85 years, moving forward a little over a tenth of a degree a day, so a birth date alone almost always settles the sign.
Do I need my birth time?
Only for the house, which needs the full birth chart. If Lilith changed signs on your birth date, the calculator shows the local time of the change.
Is my birth data saved anywhere?
No. The sign is computed by JavaScript in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. The page link keeps your date and place so you can come back to the result, so share that link only with people you would tell your birthday to.
