Saturn sign calculator
Enter your birth date. You will get your Saturn sign and whether Saturn was retrograde at your birth. A birth time and city are optional.
How this calculator works
The calculator returns Saturn's tropical sign at your birth minute, or across your whole birth date if you leave the time out. It reports retrograde when Saturn's longitude was decreasing at that moment.
For the dates Saturn comes back to this position, use the Saturn return calculator. Positions come from Astronomy Engine (VSOP87), the same code that drives the birth chart calculator.
Questions
- How long does Saturn stay in one sign?
- About two and a half years. Saturn takes 29.5 years to go around the zodiac. Because of its retrograde loops it often enters a sign, slips back into the previous one for a few months and then returns, so people born a few months apart around a change can have different Saturn signs.
- Is my Saturn sign the same as my Saturn return?
- They are linked. Your Saturn return is the period, around age 29 and again around 58, when Saturn comes back to the sign and degree it held at your birth. This page gives the natal Saturn sign. The Saturn return calculator gives the exact return dates.
- Do I need my birth time?
- No. Saturn moves at most about 0.13 degrees a day, so a birth date settles the sign except on the rare day it changes, when the calculator shows the change time. The house needs a birth time and the full birth chart.
- Is my birth data saved anywhere?
- No. The sign is computed by JavaScript in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. The page link keeps your date and place so you can come back to the result, so share that link only with people you would tell your birthday to.
